EA Access Brings a New Subscription Gaming Service to Xbox One

The advent of the current generation of consoles has marked a new era of cooperation between Xbox and Electronic Arts. EA brought its massive, mech-based shooter, Titanfall, exclusively to the Xbox One. Today, EA announced a new Xbox One-exclusive program that will bring the companies closer and provide tons of EA games to Xbox players for a low price.

Electronic Arts has announced EA Access, an Xbox One-exclusive program that will grant players access to the EA vault for $4.99 a month or for a flat rate of $30 a year, IGN reports. The program is currently in Beta for a limited number of players, and offers complete access to four of the publisher’s biggest games: Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25. EA promises that more titles will be added soon.

Subscribers will also see benefits from the program when purchasing EA content, with a 10% discount on all EA games and DLC. EA Access members will also be able to play trial versions of EA games five days before they come out. Players’ progress on the trial versions will carry over to the final game if they choose to purchase the full version. EA has announced that Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA Live 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition will all be eligible for this program.

Xbox One fans and detractors alike have decried the lack of exclusive titles on the console. While EA Access does not bring any Xbox One-exclusive games (that we know of) to the system, it is certainly a large incentive to go to the green. Depending on how many titles EA makes available when the program officially launches, EA Access could be a great deal for gamers, one that helps the Xbox One stay competitive in a Sony-dominated market.
