If you think we need religion in schools, I have one question for you.  Which one?  Well, since you're from around here, you probably say Christianity. And again, I'd say "which one?".  Experts put the amount of different Christian denominations at around 33,000 variations and that's the low end. There's a reason why there's a "First Baptist Church" and a "Second Baptist Church".

This really shouldn't be an issue. Your local church is an expert in the religious instruction that suits your needs. In addition, you are free to put your kid in a religious school if you want. This works out even better, because if the schools tried to accommodate even just the Christian religion, the  idiosyncrasies would be maddening.

The revolutionary war that led to the formation of America was a fight against the church of England. For that reason our forefathers set a clear delineation between church and state. For some reason, there are groups that want to infiltrate our schools with whatever religion they believe in, and not respect the others who believe differently.  This doesn't mean there is a war on religion, you can worship any way you want, you just don't have a right to force it on other people, or in the case of schools, on their kids.

I, myself, am non-religious. But that doesn't matter. What if my kids were catholic, or Jewish, or   some other religion that wasn't the predominate one around here? Why should I pay taxes to have my kids taught differently than I believe?  The whole religion in schools thing just opens a can of worms that is completely unnecessary.  If you want your kids to have religious instruction in schools, you can put them in that type of school.  The rest of us shouldn't have to conform to your views because you're too lazy to put your kids in a school or church that suits you.

Saying "we need God in our schools" is a cop-out when people see misbehavior in the system. What we need is discipline and parental involvement. Religion is a personal choice and it should stay that way.
