DC, Game Informer Teases Could Lead to an Arkham Knight

Where there’s smoke, there’s the ashes of Gotham City. When last we left you, rumors had sprung up about a new Batman: Arkham game getting announced very soon. Looks like those reports might turn into truth quicker than we thought.

DC Entertainment is teasing an all video game episode of DC All Access (the regular video series about all things DC Comics) set to debut tomorrow, March 4. Ames Kirshen, vice president of production at WB Games, hinted there would be a major announcement people wouldn’t want to miss coming. We already know just about everything there is to know about the likes of Infinite Crisis and Batman: Arkham Origins, but what about that new Batman game supposedly in development?

Well according to Bleeding Cool, that’s just what’s getting announced. The site claimed the new Bat-title, Batman: Arkham Knight, will be revealed tomorrow as part of a major rollout. The name was one of many trademarked late last year. Based on a Kotaku tip from late last week, GameStops across the country reportedly received marketing materials with a mysterious new Bat-logo akin to those we’ve seen in Batman: Arkham franchise past. No title or other indicators are printed on the advertisements, but sources indicated the new Batman flyers will be going up this week.

Additionally, Game Informer has been hyping its new cover reveal for tomorrow afternoon. As you may or may not know, Game Informer is owned by GameStop. What a strange coincidence then that the stores, DC Comics, WB Games and Game Informer are all teasing a big reveal for this week. The odds on Batman: Arkham Knight being this month’s big story in the gaming magazine just went up exponentially. Also, let’s not forget today’s earlier report of Hush being tapped to be the next big bad in a Batman video game.

There’s still nothing concrete on the Batman video game front, but there are an awful lot of indicators going off. Will tomorrow’s big news be Batman: Arkham Knight for next-gen consoles, as developed by Rocksteady Studios? Kevin Conroy might be on board, but we’re going to need more than that to get us excited. We won’t have long to wait to find out what awaits though.
