Dave Grohl has fashioned a documentary about the famed Sound City Studios – Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind’ and Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumors’ are part of the studio’s repertoire, to name few. A super short and not-very-informative but utterly evocative trailer has been released. It’s more of a teaser than anything.

There’s fast-paced images of major artists like Tom Petty and more, but there’s no dialogue. It’s just clips of luminaries like Trent Reznor, Stevie Nicks and a host of others from their interviews, talking and being expressive with their hands as a riff blasts in the background. Whatever they are saying, we can’t hear it because the music blares.

That said, there are a few words sprinkled throughout. However, the most poignant? When the trailer ends and someone declares, “Sound City. That’s it, man.” There’s also a shot of Grohl, letting out belly laugh before the teaser ends.

There’s not much you can glean about the film from this trailer. But there are jam sessions with Corey Taylor as well as Stephen Pearcy of Ratt.

A theatrical release date for this ultimate rock doc has yet to be determined. This trailer, while short, has us amped up to see the film, be it at an arthouse theater or from the comforts of our own homes on DVD.
