Dave Grohl Reveals Elton John Guests on New Queens of the Stone Age Album
Dave Grohl isn’t an official member of Queens of the Stone Age — he serves as guest drummer on the new album — but that didn’t stop the Foo Fighters frontman from revealing that he’ll be joined on the disc by a much more unlikely guest: Elton John.
Grohl is spending the week as guest host of ’Chelsea Lately,’ and during Wednesday night’s edition of the E! network talk show, Grohl revealed that John, of all people, will be a featured guest on the new, as-yet-untitled Queens of the Stone Age album, due out later this year. John appeared as a guest on ‘Chelsea Lately,’ and the two discussed recording sessions for the track.
“I remember you [Elton] walking in, and him being, like, [lethargically] ‘Have you got a ballad for me?’ And we were just like, ‘no, we do not have a ballad for you today, at all,’” Grohl said, recalling the recording session, to much laughter. Later, John chimed in about the experience, praising Grohl in the process.
“After three hours, we got it, and he [Grohl] drummed on every take and every take was amazing,” John said. “He’s built like a brick s—house when he drums.”
In fact, John couldn’t stop raving about the former Nirvana drummer. He also spoke highly of Them Crooked Vultures, which featured QOTSA’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones. John then called Grohl “the most respected guy from his generation in the [music] business.”
