Dallas Cowboys Nose Tackle Josh Brent Arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter
ESPN is reporting he was booked around 4:14am this morning in Irving. According to police, Brent, who had been starting in place on injured nose tackle, Jay Ratliff, was driving his car at high rate of speed, hit a curb, and flipped it. Teammate, Jerry Brown, who was a passenger in the car, was unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Brent was given a field sobriety test by police, which he failed.
"We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown," said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. "At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."
Brent and Brown were both teammates at the University of Illinois. This is the not first time that Brent was arrested on an alcohol related charge. In 2009, he was arrested for DUI and suspended from the University of Illinois.
