Cradle of Filth will unleash their 12th studio album, Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness of Decay, this year! The new record is set for a Sept. 22 release via Nuclear Blast.

Cradle have hardly gone three years without an album release since unveiling their debut, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, in 1994. The British extreme metal band shows no signs of slowing down, already announcing their follow-up to 2015’s Hammer of the Witches.

"The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that,” explains vocalist Dani Filth. “’Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation."

Filth adds that beyond CoF’s 2017 U.K. tour dates, a world tour is planned for 2018. "We, as a band, are incredibly excited about hitting the U.K. and Ireland for a full run of dates around All Hallows Eve, as playing the band's home country is always great fun and the audiences here are very receptive. And nuts,” Dani says. “The dates will be the first in a long line of shows that will extend throughout the rest of the world throughout 2018. We aim to be very prolific on the live front, delivering a show worthy of our fans' exalted expectations and more."

The new album was produced by frequent Cradle collaborator Scott Atkins and the record’s artwork, photography and videography was handled by Artūrs Bērziņš, who is well known for his postmodern interpretations of classic myths. This has given him the name of “sacred monster of Latvian postmodernism.”

The first single from Cryptoriana will arrive July 5, the same day as album pre-orders will become available. See the full list of Cradle’s U.K. and Ireland tour dates below.
