Courtney Love’s Art Show in New York to be ‘Kurt-free’

Courtney Love is getting ready to unveil her debut art show in New York next month. And according to the Hole frontwoman, don’t expect anything related to her late husband Kurt Cobain to be on display.

The exhibit is called ‘And She’s Not Even Pretty’ and will be at the Fred Torres Collaborations gallery starting May 3. The Huffington Post has a behind-the-scenes look at Love’s collection, in which she describes how personal the drawings she created are.

“It’s really a Kurt-free zone,” Love says. “A lot of this collection is about one romance.” The widow of Cobain wouldn’t elaborate about which romance inspired her.

There will be more than 45 pieces of work for the public to see, including one of Love’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow with her son Moses. The rest of the collection will feature a host of women posing nude done in colored pencils, pastels and watercolor painting. Watch the video below to see Love explain her portrait of dead French actress Sarah Bernhardt, which includes her version of Jackson Pollock’s action painting method of applying paint to canvas.

Love doesn’t rule out a second art show if ‘And She’s Not Even Pretty’ goes well.

“I don’t know when I’ll do this again,” she said. “[But] if this works with me, there are gonna be a whole lot of other ones.”
