I don't get it. I spent the majority of my life as a Christian and I still don't understand the thinking here. In Corpus Christi they've spent three years and nearly a million dollars to build a 210 foot cross. When completed, it will be the second largest in the world (I guess second is an okay goal to have).

I just don't understand how you can justify spending this amount of time and money on this project. I know some of you may say "for the glory of God" or whatever, but I don't see how it would be less glorious to feed hungry people or house a veteran or something. I can't even imagine a god that would rather have a symbol than an act of charity towards people or animals. It just doesn't add up.  I don't believe there's anything in the bible about the bigger the cross the closer to God or anything. This just seems to be one churches attempt to place their collective lips onGods backside. I hope they enjoy their cross, for a lot of us it will only serve as a reminder how misguided and off-point people can be about their very own religion.
