Cocaine Reportedly Found on Scott Weiland’s Tour Bus, Bassist Arrested

Last night, news broke that iconic singer Scott Weiland had died on his tour bus in Minnesota. At the time, only vague details concerning the frontman's death had been made available. Now, reports have surfaced from Rolling Stone that a small amount of cocaine had been discovered in Weiland's bedroom on the bus after being searched by police.

According to CBS Minnesota, police acquired a search warrant and swept through the bus looking for evidence related to the death of the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer. The substance found in Weiland's tour bus bedroom underwent a field test and yielded a positive result for cocaine. The same substance was also found in bassist Tommy Black's room and he has since been arrested and is being held by local police in Bloomington, Minn., for possession of a controlled substance (mugshot pictured below).

Weiland was on tour with his solo outfit, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, when he passed away. He was discovered by his personal manager and upon arrival at the scene, police pronounced the singer dead. Earlier this year, Wildabouts guitarist Jeremy Brown died right as the band was set to release their new album, Blaster.

In an exclusive interview earlier this year, Weiland had told us that he had been off drugs for 13 years. While there's no proof yet that he had taken any drugs the night of his death, his history with substance abuse is a storied one.

The rock community has been devastated by the passing and a host of artists, including Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, have offered their condolences and thoughts on the matter, expressing grief and thanking the legendary frontman for the music he created. Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan wrote an especially touching message, calling Weiland one of the "great voices of our generation" along with late frontmen Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley.
