Seriously, y'all? Can't you figure out how to have your religion and not ruin other peoples lives? Can you give your kids even the slightest chance at a normal life? Apparently. at least one couple doesn't think they should have to.

The Texas Supreme court has been asked to hear the case of a Christian couple who were homeschooling their children.

One of the children allegedly told a cousin that they didn't have to do any school work because they were going to be "raptured."

Just to be clear, the question is: do the parents have to educate the kids at all, or just let them wait around for the second coming of Jesus Christ (who is running late by the way)?

Let's just say that for whatever reason there is no "second coming" in the next sixty years or so. Why does the rest of society have to support these idiots because their parents didn't follow basic educational guidelines?

According to the story, one of their daughters actually ran away from home at 17...TO GO TO SCHOOL! (You don't hear that often.) The problem was, they had to put her in 9th grade because she was so far behind.

This raises very tough questions once again. You should be able to raise your kids your way, but you shouldn't be able to raise them in such a way that makes them a burden on society. I would think any decent parent would want their kids properly educated just in case the world doesn't end.

To me, not educating your kids is tantamount to abuse. I hope the Texas Supreme Court follows the lower courts decision and makes sure that basic minimal educational standards are enforced.
