Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell just released a video for his new solo track "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart." The clip sees Cornell in a Wild West setting at the mercy of a hangman's noose.

The Jessie Hill-directed "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" is a definite Rock Video of the Year contender, showcasing a number of accomplished actors, great cinematography and storyline that will keep your eyes glued to your computer screen. You'll certainly recognize Cornell in the video, along with actors Eric Roberts (The Expendables / The Dark Knight / The Pope of Greenwich Village) and W. Earl Brown (Deadwood / True Detective).

Chris Cornell is one of many men on death row, sentenced to die by hanging. Viewers witness the executions of a few prisoners as Cornell awaits his fate, with the video switching between the scene and shots of Chris performing "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart," at times with Eric Roberts, in his cell. You may think Cornell's life has come to an end, but thanks to the work of a special friend, an unexpected twist concludes the clip.

"Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" is featured on Cornell's Higher Truth album, which will be released Sept. 18. To pre-order the deluxe version of the album, which contains four bonus tracks, click here. You can also check out Chris Cornell's 2015 tour dates here.
