Check Out What Abilene Wants to Open as a New Business

With this week's Question of the Week, we asked, if you could open up a business in Abilene, what business would it be?  After creating a poll using your comments to vote on, the people of Abilene have spoken and the results are in. The clear choice was a water park resort.

That makes total sense as our summers here in Abilene are brutal.  It's not like Abilene doesn't have a place to put one.  I mean, look at all the new houses being built even as I type this. Heck, we even had construction start on a water park some years ago, but that was scrapped after some time.

There is some good news however as earlier this year, the city of Abilene approved a splash water park to accommodate up to 250 people at Nelson Park.  The splash water park should be open at the end of this month (July 2012).

However, when you think of a water park resort, you think of huge slides, several pools and hotel accommodations - similar to The Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.

So, until someone opens up a water park resort, we'll just have to keep hitting the road to DFW and cooling off at the splash water park opening soon.
