I've said it before and I'll say it again, Abilene is the best when it comes to supporting our own in need. Dennis Jennings recently found out his throat cancer returned and along with that diagnosis he visualized the rising cost of medical bills. Never fear, Abilene is stepping up to help Dennis so he knows he's never alone.
It's been along time since I had to worry about a prom dress so when someone asked me the other day where they could get one in Abilene I had no idea what to tell them. I decided there were probably a lot of others out there with the same question. So I did a little research and here's some place I found in Abilene that sell prom dresses.
Since mom passed a couple years ago I've been looking after my aging father and it can get pretty interesting at times, especially when you've got a dad like mine (half drill sergeant, half comedian). When mom was alive she told dad what he was hungry for. Now, dad found his hunger independence and he tells me what he's been craving. Last week he says "you know son, turkey and dressing isn't just for Thanksgiving, I'm hungry and I want turkey and dressing. Take me to eat turkey and dressing, right now."
One year ago today I was laying in a hospital bed having a double mastectomy. I received news of breast cancer just 3 weeks before that and made the decision that best suited me. I don't regret it and as my boyfriend says "they were killing you". Today I celebrate my first year of being cancer free!
Warmer weather approaches it's time to start thinking about the great outdoors and where to go swimming in Abilene. Here are the best pools around Abilene to kick off the 2013 swimming season.
A few years back, I started playing disc golf. I have gotten better over time, but my game still seems to need a lot more work. Especially after getting beat by someone who just had heart surgery.
I've been telling myself for several weeks that it's time to start taking better care of myself and get back into a workout routine. I suppose my excuses dried up, and the reasons to get back into shape finally won out. So yesterday, I decided to make the time, and committed to joining a gym. This morning was the first time I've worked out since 2006.
Recently, my co-worker, Shay revealed why Spring is her favorite time of the year. While she listed some good reasons, I have a different reason why Spring is my favorite time of the year - it's tornado season!
Many of you know I attended Texas A & M for awhile, although I ended up graduating from Tarleton State University. It doesn't matter though because once an Aggie always an Aggie. I truly cannot tell you how much I believe that. It's not just about getting a degree from there but more the comradery and atmosphere of the location; College Station.
