2013 Taste of Abilene to Benefit Local Charities is April 30th

The answer to the question "What's for dinner?" will be a lot easier on Tuesday, April 30th, as the Abilene Civic Center will host 'Taste of Abilene 2013'. The event, presented by the Abilene Rotary Club and the Abilene Restaurant Association, will showcase about 3 dozen restaurants and caterers from the Abilene area. It will benefit local non-profit organizations and community organizations.

“Healthy Kids Day” Returns to Redbud Park YMCA in Abilene April 27th

The annual 'Healthy Kids Day' is coming back to the Redbud YMCA Saturday, April 27th, doors will opening at 9am. This all day free family event includes a 1-mile family fun run, bike or walk through the park. Plus swimming, gymnastic, tumbling and karate demonstrations, a bike safety course, kids health screenings, door prizes, and more. This is open to the public and no membership is required, the Y’s committed to addressing critical health and education issues facing Abilene's youth.

‘Friends of NRA’ Banquet Set for June 29th at Abilene Civic Center

The "Friends of NRA" is a group that hold fundraisers, such as banquets, for the 'future of shooting sports'. Friends of NRA banquets are known for three things- fun, fellowship, and fundraising. Last year alone, there were over 1,070 Friends of NRA events across the country raising over $20 million dollars for The NRA Foundation.

Locally, the next "Friends of NRA" banquet is scheduled for June 29th.

The Empty Bowls Project is a fundraising event where you pay $10.00 for a bowl of soup and some bread or crackers, and when you're done eating, you get to keep the bowl. All the bowls are one-of-a-kind hand crafted by artisans from around the Big Country and the Lone Star State. All funds raised go directly back into our community to feed the hungry, through church/community kitchens and/or pantries.
