Shay’s Thoughts on Preventive Mastectomies

The public was shocked yesterday when it was revealed that Angelina Jolie had undergone a preventive double or bi-lateral mastectomy, only she hadn't been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a preventive measure as tests showed she had an 87% chance of getting cancer in the future. I'm not sure if people were more shocked at what she had done or the fact that it had been kept secret for so long. Either way it was water cooler talk for the day.

Shay Celebrates and Reflects on Her First “Cancer Free” Birthday

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while all the pink we see on the players during NFL games in October mainly focuses our attention on how the disease affects women and what they can do about it, we should also keep in mind (or learn) that men, too, can contract breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, one in 1,000 men will fall victim to the disease, which claims the life of at least one man every day.

Breast Cancer Survivor Loses Hair to Chemo Then Six Years Later Dontates New Hair to Locks of Love [VIDEO]

It's breast cancer awareness month and I have been amazed at how many people are affected by this disease. As someone who has gone through it myself I know what it's like to lose my hair due to chemo. For me, it wasn't that big a deal but for kids it's even harder. Kids these days can be cruel little creatures and a Locks of Love wig can bring back a sense of confidence to young kids who have lost theirs.
