If there is such a thing as a royal family of rock drummers, you would have to say that the Appice family would be it. Brothers Carmine and Vinny Appice have each carved out stellar careers playing with some of rock and metal's finest, but now they're ready to team up for a collaborative album.

The siblings are planning to release an album that includes not only new songs, but a blend of material throughout their respective careers. For those not familiar with the resumes, Carmine has played with Paul Stanley, Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Michael Schenker, King Kobra and Cactus among others. Vinny is best known for his work in Black Sabbath, but has also played with Dio, Heaven and Hell, Rick Derringer, Resurrection Kings, Kill Devil Hill and Last in Line.

The brothers have launched a PledgeMusic campaign to support the release, with a variety of incentives for fans who wish to pre-order or purchase the disc. They say via the site, "After decades in this crazy music business, we will sit down for the first time ever and write and record songs together. This is very exciting for us -- we're reaching out to our fans to help us get this album recorded. As Ringo Starr said, 'We'll get by with a little help from our friends.'"

They add, "This will be a great-sounding, spine-shaking, rhythmic foundation with giant melodic guitars, blazing vocals and melodies that will tear it all up." Among the items that you can receive as incentives for your purchase are drum lessons, signed cymbals and drumsticks, limited-edition shirts and the chance to join the Appice brothers in their recording studio for a day.
