Broken Hope + Deicide Mend Fences After Tour Blow Up

Broken Hope Deicide
Liz Ramanand, Loudwire

Broken Hope and Deicide had a rather dramatic ending to their fall touring relationship, but despite some unpleasantries, they’ve now mended their friendship. Broken Hope revealed that all is fine again in a new posting, stating that “friendship and music are all that matters.”

The trouble first came to light after a horrific El Paso concert in which three audience members were slashed with a box cutter by an assailant, who was since apprehended. But that was only the beginning of Broken Hope’s night as they revealed they were being kicked off the tour by Deicide’s Glen Benton.

Guitarist Jeremy Wagner detailed continued arguments with Benton throughout the trek concerning the group’s production elements and a shared bass rig. It was the latter that sparked the argument that led to Broken Hope’s ousting, with Wagner claiming that Benton had lost the band’s bass rig cables and Benton becoming upset when Broken Hope wouldn’t allow him to use the rig anymore. Things took a nasty turn with Wagner calling Benton “unprofessional” and “egomaniacal” among other things. The post is no longer on Wagner’s Facebook page, but a full rundown can be seen at Metal Injection.

Meanwhile, Benton told his side of the story in a Metal Sucks podcast where he chalked it up to growing tired of Broken Hope violating the protocols of a support band and attempting to pass off the tour as if they were the headliners. The interview can be heard here.

But with some time passing, both sides have apparently squashed the beef. The new posting from Broken Hope reads as follows:

BROKEN HOPE and DEICIDE have reached out to each other, have made apologies, and mended their friendship after the debacle at the end of the NO SALVATION TOUR.

Glen Benton, Shaun Glass, and Jeremy Wagner have been good friends for 20 years and the blow-up in El Paso was completely unnecessary and the situation could have been rectified if all parties talked it out as friends. Moreover, there were some very low-blows lobbed in an effort to maim Glen Benton, and a number of those words were very unfair and very immature, so to that end, we apologize.

That said, both bands have extended olive branches to each other in order to retain their longtime friendships, and to rise above all the worthless drama, finger-pointing, and scandalous fallout that’s plagued both bands.

We’re glad to once again have Benton’s friendship and to have DEICIDE as brothers. FRIENDSHIP and MUSIC are ALL that matters here.

We ask all fans to please embrace our effort to revive our friendship with Glen and DEICIDE, and as we all take a higher, more positive road.

Best,

BROKEN HOPE.
