There goes a new neighborhood! Body Count are back at work on new music and they've got a new label backing their forthcoming effort. The band just announced that they've signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The label will issue the band's in-progress next studio album.

The group recently started tracking the disc with producer Will Putney, who also oversaw their previous effort, Manslaughter. “Producer Will Putney is like a member of the band and has an excellent ear," says Ice-T. "He’s a great producer because he captures the true essence of our band’s sound. Once we are done writing the song it’s his job to step in and make it sound better. He helps move the record in the right direction, were anticipating working with him again. Once the record's done, were going to shoot a lot of music videos and perform spot-dates on certain fests, etc.”

As for their new label deal, Ice-T adds, "It’s cool to be a member of The Century Label Group alongside such a lot of well-established metal artists. With our last album Manslaughter, we tested the waters and got a great response from the fans and critics. Now it’s time to go kill it and make a more aggressive album and keep the Body Count style intact."

While work is underway on a new album, the band does have a live date coming up. They'll play Phoenix's Marquee Theater Friday night (June 17). Stay tuned here to see when new tour dates are announced. As for the new album, no official timeline has been set for the release, but with the band already in the studio working on music and getting the label deal lined up, it shouldn't be too long.
