Black Stone Cherry Reveal ‘Family Tree’ Album Details, Unleash New Song ‘Burnin”

Black Stone Cherry are preparing to release their next album, the straight ahead rock effort Family Tree. The band has been in the studio working on the effort at Barrick Recording in Glasgow, Ky., taking it back to the roots of where they recorded their self-titled debut disc.

The first song that they've released is "Burnin'." With muscular guitar licks and a more forceful vocal from Chris Robertson, the track makes its mark right out of the gate. Check out the lyric video in the player above.

Drummer John Fred Young says of the new disc, "Family Tree showcases all of our collective musical influences and how we have taken those to create something that is truly our own unique Southern American rock ‘n roll sound." The self-produced disc is due April 20.

The album includes a pair of special guests coming on opposite ends of the age spectrum. Singer Chris Robertson's 5-year-old son contributes backing vocals to the track "You Got the Blues," while one of the band's early heroes, Gov't Mule's Warren Haynes, meanwhile, lends his guitar talents to the song "Dancing in the Rain."

The band will hit the road in support of their new album. Their next date comes Feb. 23 in Little Rock, Ark., with U.S. dates scattered throughout the spring. Black Stone Cherry will be taking their show back to Europe this summer with shows starting in June. See all of their scheduled dates here.
