The Best Places to Go Swimming in Abilene
Abilene is very fortunate to have some great swimming pools. Here's a list of awesome pools for you to cool off in, during the dog days of summer.
Rose Park Family Aquatics Center
The Rose Park Pool also known as the 'Rose Park Adventure Cove' opens Saturday, May 26th, 2018. Let the good times begin in Abilene.
The aquatic center features two awesome slides. One is the 'Big Green Monster', while the second slide is called 'Big Blue'. The pool includes a kiddie pool, a lazy river and a beach-like pool, called 'Stingray Bay'.
The Rose Park Adventure Cove has a full service concession stand, so therefore no food or drinks are allowed into the pool. The pool will operate Tuesday-Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday-Monday 1pm to 7pm.
Cost is free for ages 2 and under, $4 for under 48 inches, $6 for over 48 inches, and $7 for adults. The Rose Park Pool closes for the season on Sunday, July 29th.

Nelson, Scarborough and Stevenson Splash Pads
All splash pads are opened seven days a week and operate sun-up to sun-down hours through October 28th. The Splash Pads are absolutely free and children must not be left unattended.

Abilene State Park Pool
The Abilene State Park pool is open from Saturday, May 26th for Memorial Day Weekend, until Sunday, August 12th. It's the oldest pool in the Big Country, operating since 1934.
$5 per person 12 and up state park admission and then it's $2 for adults age 13 and up and $1 for children ages 12 and under. The pool is only opened Wednesday - Sundays.

Sunfish Swimming Hole & Snowcones
The Sunfish Swimming Hole & Snowcones has been around for at least six decades. It closed a while back but reopened when a local family refurbished the pool and re-opened to the public earlier this year.
The pool is a very affordable pool, charging only $3 per person for a day of swimming. They are open everyday from 12 to 7 pm and closed on Wednesdays. This quaint little pool is very family friendly, has a snow cone stand attached to it and can be reserved for parties (on a first come first serve basis).
The Sunfish is at 901 North Pioneer Drive and can be reached at 325-754-8495. See their Facebook page to check when they're closed for parties.
Abilene Swim Club
The Abilene Swim Club is a "private members only" pool. Non-members can swim but must be accompanied by a member. Call for pool membership availability.
The Swim Club pool is the only pool with a high dive in Abilene now, this eight foot high diving board has lots of takers climbing the ladder. It also has a great kids slide and an awesome tree covered picnic area.
The pool's hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am- 8pm and Sunday's 1pm- 8pm. The Abilene Swim Club yearly dues are $215 and the one time joining fee is $150.

The Dive Spot
The Lytle Shores Swim Club aka The Dive Spot will open Monday June 4th until Labor Day Weekend. The pool will be open Monday through Fridays from 1pm to 3pm daily.
This pool is also open for swim and scuba lessons during the week. The Dive Spot pool has a kiddie-pool, sand volleyball court, tennis court, basketball goal and a jungle gym with swings.
The cost is $5 per person and free admission for kids two years old and under with a paid adult. Located at 1701 Lytle Trail, Abilene. The Lytle Shores Pool will not be available for private rental in 2018. Visit their website for more information.
The YMCA Indoor Pools
The YMCA has what it takes to run a pool, a great staff and awesome facilities. The indoor pools are great during cold/freezing weather. However, during 100 degree days, the ambient room temperature at the pool was just as hot as outside.
YMCA pools have open swim sessions beginning at 5:30am and continues off and on throughout the day until 8:45pm daily. Check the YMCA's schedule as the times change on a daily basis.
