Teens looking for a summer jobs have a number of places to apply. Some things have not changed since I was a teen for example, most of the jobs that are available are entry level minimum wage positions. One major change is that nearly all businesses will have you submit an application online. Nonetheless, here are the best resources to help you find summer employment.

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is the best place for all kinds of summer jobs, they currently have a lot of places where young people are being sought for employment. Most of the jobs are either in food service, entertainment or retail. The great part of the TWC is that you can apply in person (if you’re better at one on one) or online. Steve Collins Resource Business Consultant with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) says “we also have seminars where we teach young people how to dress, how to behave and how to apply for jobs.” Here’s the TWC information:

(325)-795-4200 is another great resource for finding that perfect summer job. What I really like about Snagajob is that they separate there job openings by qualifying who is best suited for that position, so you’re not stuck looking through hundreds of listings that won’t fit your needs. When I checked for “Teen Jobs in Abilene, TX ” there were 127 jobs available that were listed for teens in Abilene in “food servise or retail.” The downside is that it’s all online, but the upside is that it being online you can apply anything right on the spot. Here’s the information:
Online applications only Is another great place to find that perfect summer job. Of all the places I tried to navigate for job openings, Find The Right Job dot com was the easiest and had the most openings using the same criteria I used on all the other searches. As for teen jobs, this site listed “892 job openings in your area” with links to start applying right away. Here’s the information:
Online applications only

American Classifieds is the old school way of wearing out the old shoe leather by applying at individual places that are hiring. To get a good list of businesses that are hiring, take a glance at your American Classifieds, both in print or online. With the American Classifieds online you can sort them by city or zip code. Here’s the American Classified information:
American Classifieds
2903 North Third Street
Abilene, TX 79603.
(325)-673-4521 is an awesome resource for learning how to get hired. Their “Teen Job Search Guide” lists a ton of information on how you can find a job, where to get job applications, where teens can and can’t work, what hours you can work depending on your age, what to wear for an interview and how to obtain references. The best part is, this is strictly for teens, simple to navigate and links you to the next step in getting ready for the work world.

If you would rather talk to a real person to get help filling out applications, learning “what’s the best practice for getting hired?” or any other questions or issues the TWC encourages you to contact them and they will put a team of job finding experts at your disposal. Texas Workforce Commission is located at 400 Oak Street, Abilene Texas 79602. They even invite you calls at (325)-795-4200. Good luck on finding the perfect  summer job.
