Best Margarita Recipes For Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo, or Cinco de Drinko as I like to call it sometimes, is this Thursday and so it is time to break out the margarita’s!

There is a lot of debate on the origin of the margarita, the drink first appeared on Mexican bar menus in the 30′s and 40′s, but there is no doubt that the margarita has become a favorite among everybody.
To help maximize your margarita drinking pleasure, I’ve compiled a list of recipes of some of the best margarita’s for you to get your drink on with.
Here is my top 8 list in no particular order.
Classic Margarita
Yeah, you gotta go with the classic margarita – and there are a ton of them, but let’s start with the International Bartender’s Association recipe just for the heck of it.
1 1/4 oz tequila
2/3 oz of Cointreau or Triple Sec
1/2 oz of lemon or lime juice
salt for rimming
Rub the rim of the glass with the lime slice to make the salt stick to it. Shake the other ingredients with ice, then carefully pour into the glass (taking care not to dislodge any salt). Garnish and serve over ice.
Cadillac Margarita
This is the “Cadillac” of Margaritas because you need to use all the best ingredients. Replace the Cointreau with something fancier like Grand Marnier and BOOM – Cadillac Margarita.
1 1/2 oz premium tequila
1 oz Grand Marnier
3/4 oz lime juice
salt for rimming
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with salt.
Jalapeno Margarita
If you want to spice things up for Cinco de Mayo, then check out the Jalapeno Margarita. You can put whichever chili your heart desires, depending on your heat tolerance, but I won’t go too crazy here and will go simply with the jalapeno so you don’t totally wreck your buds.
1 thin slice of jalapeno
1 handful of celery leaves
6 oz fresh lime juice
1 spoonful of confectioners’ sugar
16 oz tequila
8 oz orange liqueur
salt for rimming
Make a big batch of margaritas with a twist. Pulse the jalapeno, celery leaves, fresh lime juice and sugar in a blender. Mix with tequila and orange liqueur in a pitcher; chill. Serve on the rocks in salt-rimmed glasses.
Mango Margarita
Of course, there are several recipes for every margarita and the mango margarita is no exception. Now, you can go on the cheap and just add mango juice, or you can really go out and use fresh mango and maybe impress that hot chick you’re flirting with a little more with this recipe.
1 1/4 cups of cubed Mango
6 oz Tequila
6 oz Sour Mix
2 oz Triple Sec
ice
Pour your liquids into the blender then the cubed mango. Blend for 10-15 seconds. Now add the ice and blend for another 30+ seconds.
Chocolate Margarita
If you love chocolate, the chocolate margarita might be the way to go. Being a chocoholic myself, I have tried a chocolate margarita before and it’s pretty dang good. May not sound good to you, but trust me, not too shabby. Besides, after the first few, it doesn’t matter what it tastes like anyway, right?
1 1/2 oz tequila
1 oz Godiva liquor
2 tablespoon chocolate syrup
3/4 oz cream
2 oz orange juice
1/2 oz lime juice
Stirrings Cocoa Rimmer
ice
Rim the glass with the cocoa rimmer. Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice and pour into a glass.
Cherry Lime Margarita
Honestly, I was looking up margarita recipes and saw this one and my mouth immediately began to water. This is a very refreshing margarita and is every bit as good as it sounds. I may end up going on the cheap and going to Sonic to get a cherry lime slush and then pour tequila in it. (wonder if that would taste good?) Anyway, so here is the recipe for a cherry lime margarita.
1/2 cup cherries pitted and mashed or 2 oz Fresh cherry puree
1 oz simple syrup
1 oz Fresh Lime juice
3/4 oz cointreau
1-1/2 oz tequila
Lime wedge for garnish
Combine the zest of one lime with several teaspoons of rock salt. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass. Dip into the zest salt mixture. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker mash the cherries with the simple syrup and lime juice. Add the other ingredients and shake to combine. If using the puree shake to combine. Pour into prepared glass and and garnish with a lime wedge.
Three Amigos Margarita
This one may cause hallucinations so be very careful. Grab a couple of buddies and and kick back with the three amigos margarita.
1 shot (.75oz) of Patron Silver
1 shot (.75oz) of Corazon Reposado Tequila
1 shot (.75oz) of El Tesoro Anejo Tequila
1.50oz of Contreau
3oz of Jose Cuevo Margartia Mix
In a shaker filled with ice. Pour ingredients in shaker and shake about 7 times chilled. Pour in a Margarita glass not rimmed with salt.
Abuelos Mexican Restraurant Margarita
In my opinion, Abuelos makes a tasty margarita, so why not have the recipe to make your own for Cinco de Mayo? Also, you have to check out Abuelos’ Corona margarita where they put a Corona upside down in a margarita. It’s pretty wicked and delicious. Anyway, here is the recipe for Abuelos margarita.
1 shot of Patron silver
1/2 shot of Patron orange liqueur
Sour mix to taste (fresh lime juice/sugar mixture)
Mix, pour and serve on the rocks, with a salted rim. Pretty easy.
So, that is my top 8 list of some of the best margarita recipes for Cinco de Mayo. If you want to check out more recipes, there are a number of websites to go to but I recommend mission margarita , or drinksmixer.
Whatever you drink , we do remind you to please drink responsibly and do NOT (can’t stress that enough) drink and drive.
