Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Penguin, Firefly, Riddler and a mysterious new villain have united and taken over Gotham City in this gorgeous, new trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight.

We are certainly digging this new trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight. Sure, it's similar to previous trailers where it just shows Gotham's goons laying waste to civilians and police, but there are some noticeable differences this time around. For example, we finally get a look at the gorgeous new designs of Poison Ivy and Firefly. Notice that the Arkham Knight is using a radio headset while following behind Scarecrow. Could some other supervillain be calling the shots from behind the scenes? Ra's Al Ghul? Hugo Strange? Hush? Doctor Hurt? Mr. J? Scarface?

While it's great to see all the beautifully redone looks of Gotham's most notorious criminals, Scarecrow's message throughout the trailer was particularly impressive and contained some powerful writing and voice acting. While he had an great showing in Batman: Arkham Asylum, this is a darker, more terrorist-like version of Scarecrow we have been hoping for throughout the Arkham series, rather than the sadistic psychologist who would just randomly gas you.

"Remnants of Gotham, I have messages for you all. To the vandals who stayed behind to pick the warm flesh from Gotham's bones, have your fun - you are under my protection. To the cowards quaking behind the police department's walls, you will not be spared. And to Batman, I have already won," said Scarecrow. "When the dawn comes, when Gotham lies in ruin and I turn my gaze to the world beyond, the legend of the Batman will be worth nothing at all."

With an "M for Mature" rating, we're rather interested to see how the Caped Crusader's last stand will play when Batman: Arkham Knight debuts on June 2 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.

This is the 5x5 episode Gotham deserves.
