Baroness Members Remain Hospitalized After Bus Crash

Baroness
Jimmy Hubbard

They still have a way to go, but the prognosis appears encouraging for most of the people injured in the horrific accident that sent a tour bus carrying members of the Georgia-based band Baroness and their crew plunging over a British viaduct.

Nine people were hospitalized following the crash, which took place Wednesday (Aug. 15), including all four of the band members; five of them remain under observation, including guitarist/vocalist John Baizley, drummer Allen Blickle, and bassist Matt Maggioni.

The band shared the news via a post on its website, saying that the bus driver “remains in critical condition” and one member of the crew is “still undergoing testing,” while Baizley is receiving treatment for a broken arm and leg, and Blickle and Maggioni are suffering from fractured vertebrae. Guitarist/vocalist Pete Adams is the sole member of the band to have been released.

Understandably, the remainder of the band’s European tour — planned in support of their new album, ‘Yellow and Green’ — has been cancelled. Baroness are scheduled to start a new run of American dates on Aug. 29, with a show in Brooklyn, N.Y.; it remains to be seen whether they’ll be able to appear there, or at the rest of their currently scheduled shows, which run through November.
