If you've seen the hoverboard that turned out to be a hoax, you may be skeptical about this one. But apparently, there is a real hoverboard in the works, and you can help fund it!

Hendo Hoverboards has launched a Kickstarter fundraising page to help finance the creation of a real hoverboard that could have you floating around like Marty McFly in 'Back to the Future 2'. Not the lookalike toy Mattel has had on the market for a couple years, but a real working hoverboard.

According to Hendo's Kickstarter page, the current prototype stands "...about 1 inch off the ground...the prototype is real and it works! But to see it hover in person, and better yet, to defy gravity by riding it, is something you need to experience as well. With the support of the Kickstarter community, we all can. We need your help to put the finishing touches on the Hendo Hoverboard, to help us produce them, and to create places to ride them."

If you're interested in investing, you can pledge anywhere from $5 (which will buy you a shout-out on social media) up to $10,000. For that kind of cash, Hendo promises you will own one of the first ten hoverboards produced. And they estimate the delivery time will be October 2015 - the same time 'Back to the Future 2' took place.

Personally, I would love to see this come to fruition. After all, we don't have flying cars or many of the other things my childhood promised. I don't think a real hoverboard is too much to ask!
