‘Avengers 2′ Spoilers: Vision’s Origin Revealed

Avengers 2 Vision Origin
Marvel

It’s been a huge week for ‘Avengers 2‘ — aside from our first look at the sentient villain Ultron, eight new photos from the film debuted online, and Entertainment Weekly continues dropping plot point after plot point. Now, another piece of story intel has hit, once again from EW, revealing the origin story behind another highly anticipated ‘Avengers 2′ debut: Vision!

Paul Bettany, who so famously voiced Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. in the ‘Iron Man’ movies and ‘The Avengers,’ will now get an upgrade for ‘Avengers 2′ by playing Vision. And comic book fans will be pleased to know that his infusion into the plot mirrors the character’s comic book origins.

We already know that Ultron (voiced by James Spader) will be the creation of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in ‘Avengers 2,’ as he develops this super-powered A.I. to be the general of a new sentient army to step in for The Avengers in combat. However, Stark infuses Ultron with some of his own personality traits, but his creation, of course, gravitates towards the negative attributes and places himself on a new path — destroy all humans.

Now, this is where Vision comes in. In the latest issue of EW, new details, which have not officially hit the web but have been transcribed by SlashFilm, reveal that Ultron takes a note from his creator in creating his own life form.

…the Vision, a synthetic, superpowered human designed by Ultron to show he has the power to create life too. (Did we mention Ultron has major daddy issues?) The Vision will be portrayed by Paul Bettany, who has already  been a part of the Marvel movie universe as J.A.R.V.I.S., the Siri-like artificial intelligence who serves as Tony Stark’s laboratory side kick.

Paul Bettany voices J.A.R.V.I.S. Paul Bettany plays Vision. “It’s not [a] coincidence,” said director Joss Whedon after a deep breath, though he refused to elaborate.

‘Avengers 2′ returns the entire team of Marvel superheroes to the big screen, along with newcomers Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), to take down this sentient menace and his army. The film will debut on May 1, 2015.
