As I was reading my current issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife I ran across a new sport that is gaining in popularity and is not just for the beach. It’s called stand up paddle boarding or SUP. It seems this is becoming the fastest growing part of paddling sports. It’s great exercise as much as it is fun.
I’ve been reading a murder mystery lately that has an “owl” in the mix. The murderer has placed a plastic owl at the scene of the crime and now it’s up to the investigator to figure out the meaning behind the owl. I remembered from my college literature classes discussing crows, owls and other birds and there omens. So I decided to research it a little more because some see owls as “wise” while others see them as “evil”
July 4th holiday will be here a week from today! So you want to do something fun and have friends over for a picnic/bbq and you're at a loss as to what you should serve; other than hot dogs and hamburgers. Well
People will ask me “what do you do?” When I tell them I’m a radio DJ, the response is always the same “that’s sounds like so much fun, I wish I had a fun job.” Yes, it is fun, but it was quite nerve wracking when I first started. Here’s my first day as a radio DJ.
If you are an arts & crafts person like me and especially if you like to make your own jewelry then I have an event for you this weekend. The West Texas Bead Market will be at the Abilene Civic Center with tons of beads to help complete your projects.
It seems their are an exceptional amount of vampires among us, in fact, a new vampire movie was released this weekend “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. The movie has Lincoln hunting down vampires who have invaded the United States. I’m not much on vampires but I have actually gotten into the HBO True Blood series. I would have to say that Eric Northman is my favorite vampire from the show.
Saturday my mom and I went to eat and the restaurant was playing country music. Kenny Rogers “Lucille” came on and my mom starts laughing, I asked what was up. She was remembering all the wrong words my brother and I both sang to that song.
This holiday will take on new meaning for me this year, simply because I am now one of the “statistics”. I am the 1 in 8 women that are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Tomorrow is the day to show your support of breast cancer awareness.
If you are looking for something unique to do this weekend you might think about the boat drag races in San Angelo. I’ve never seen anything like it and I bet most of you and your kids haven’t either. What could be more fun than lots of speed, boats and the lake?
This is the 11th year for the Abilene A&M Club to hold the golf classic. Money raised from the tournament will provide funds for 12 students currently enrolled at Texas A&M University to continue their education. If you’ve ever been to college or have a kid in school then you know that any and all help is welcomed.
The job market is very tight these days. Those that get the jobs are lucky. Sometimes they are great jobs sometimes they are just to get you by until you can get a better one. Most employers want to hire good, honest, hard working folks. Is that you?
