The CDC Reports ‘Flu Vaccine Could be Fueling America’s Flu Epidemic’

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) just revealed that as of mid-January, the flu has officially reached the “epidemic” status in America. The report states that "the flu vaccine is only about 60 percent effective, so for every one million Americans that get the flu shot, 400,000 come down with the flu." That means 40% of those people vaccinated are spreading the disease, raising the likelihood of a more serious epidemic.

The Broadway Musical ‘West Side Story’ Comes to Abilene January 23rd [VIDEO]

West Side Story the play/musical, is coming to Abilene with Celebrity Attractions and it's the actual Broadway presentation that is currently touring the country.  West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by the William Shakespeare classic Romeo and Juliet. The play will be in Abilene at the Civic Center on Wednesday, January 23rd and tickets are still available.

26th Annual ‘TET Reunion’ for Veterans is Scheduled for February 2nd in Abilene

The 26th Annual 'TET Reunion' honoring all Veterans, is scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd starting at 12:00 noon at the Taylor County Expo center. All Veteransand their families are welcomed, and encouraged to bring their photo's and memorabilia from their era of service. The TET reunion was started by Vietnam Vets but is open to all Vets, no matter the era of service. There will be food, drinks, displays, memorabilia and a USO kind of show.

The 6th Annual Joseph Thomas Memorial Triathlon is Set for February 9th at Abilene’s Prime Time Entertainment [VIDEO]

The Joseph Thomas Memorial Triathlon for children is scheduled for February 9th, 2013 at Prime Time Entertainment. This years triathlon for kids will consist of miniature golf, bowling and Skee ball. There is no cost for kids to participate in a day of fun and festivities however the Joseph Thomas Foundation (JTF) is a non-profit organization that helps medically fragile children. Kids that have medical and/or physical challenges are encouraged to attend and participate as special arrangements can be made to accommodate these children.

Abilene Area Kids Will Participate in Youth Varmint Hunt for Texas Outdoor Child Organization

They're back, it's time again for the annual youth varmint hunts to benefit the Texas Outdoor C.H.I.L.D. a non-profit organization that provides hunting, fishing and outdoor adventures to children that suffer from terminal illnesses and/or life altering medical conditions. The first in a series of hunts is scheduled for February, 16th and 17th. Any child that is from the Lone Star State can register to participate in the weekend long hunt.

TNT Television Network Adds Action and Drama Button to a Sleepy Little Town In Belgium [VIDEO]

When TNT, the television network decided to launch their TV channel in Belgium, they placed a big red push button and a sign hanging over it, smack-dab in the middle of this sleepy, boring, "nothing ever happens here" Flemish little town. Daring the average Flemish person in this Flemish square on an average Flemish day to push it, they mostly just stared at it. The sign over the red button clearly read "Push to add drama." Then finally one person dose, check out what happens next.

The poll leaned heavily toward Blake's wife Miranda Lambert, the powers to be however, decided on Luke Bryan. The 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) Show will be hosted equally, by Blake Shelton who is returning for his third year and Luke Bryan who is no stranger to the awards show arena. The survey explored America's understanding, views and opinions on obesity and obese people in particular. The object was to find out what we Americans know and think about the causes and consequences of obesity. While many sighted the link between obesity and health problems and whether the government should address America's obesity epidemic. An alarming majority claimed 'discrimination' is an even bigger issue.
