Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys and Green Day kept the five-and-a-half-hour Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions party hopping last night (April 14) at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio. The show, which sold out, also brought in a full house of fans around the corner at the actual Rock Hall, which was having its own party showing the concert on various screens throughout the Museum.
It’s hard to believe Coachella 2012 is about to wrap up — although it’s really not at all, thanks to this year’s addition of a second weekend for the first time ever. Yes, that means we get to do this all over next weekend! That said, it is kind of sad for weekend one to be drawing to a close, despite the rare cool temperatures, gusty winds and even spots of showers.
We’re not going to say we told you so, but — well, we told you so. Confirming our prediction, Radiohead have been added to the Coachella 2012 live stream schedule for tonight. Radiohead are slated to hit the Coachella main stage at 11:05PM PT (2:05AM PT), and the band’s headlining set will in fact be webcast on YouTube. Check out Saturday’s updated Coachella webcast schedule and also watch the actual live stream here.
There’s a ton of bands at Coachella 2012 scheduled to get live stream treatment this weekend — but unfortunately, Radiohead are not one of them. That said, eagle-eyed observers may have noticed a major coincidence: Saturday’s live stream schedule has a big, gaping “TBA” hole at 11:05PM PT, and Radiohead coincidentally are supposed to hit the stage at 11:05PM PT. Not only that, they are the only act with that set time on Saturday.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif, is consistently considered one of the best festival-going experiences available annually in the United States — but thanks to the magic of a little invention called the Internet, you don’t actually have to attend it to enjoy the live music. Like its predecessors, Coachella 2012 has an immense lineup that few others rival, and this year marks the first time it’s taking places over two three-day weekends. In other words: double your pleasure, double your fun.
Opening day and night at Coachella 2012 not only saw several stellar performances — Mazzy Star, the Black Keys and M83 were among the highlights — but also something that’s a very rare occurrence at the festival: periods of rain and downright chilly temperatures. Not surprisingly, those were the two big themes as fans took to Twitter en masse to transmit their experiences back to envious friends at home (a phenomenon that, with so many posts per minute emanating from Indio, could easily cause a Twitter backlash by those not in attendance).
Whether currently at Coachella, on the way there, wishing they were attending or simply remembering the glory days of festivals past, artists and bands have been taking to Twitter to post about the annual gathering in the desert
Didn’t score tickets to Coachella 2012? Actually, now in fact may be be the best time to buy. A combination of forecasted rain — which, if it happens, will be the first-ever measured precipitation at the annual desert fest — and twice as many tickets to go around thanks to the addition of a second weekend this year make pass prices the cheapest they’ve ever been on the resale market.
It was fitting that three members of Slipknot hit the stage to present an honor that’s new to the Revolver Golden Gods this year, and an equally fitting name for it — the Paul Gray Best Bassist Award. Gray was, after all, Slipknot’s bassist until his tragic death in May 2010 from a drug overdose, and a very skilled one at that. Bass players are often the unsung hero of the band, but nobody ever overlooked Gray — during his life or after his passing.
Green Day currently are working on a trilogy of albums to follow-up their 2009 release, ’21st Century Breakdown.’ The three discs — titled, appropriately, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! — are slated for release on Sept. 25, 2012, Nov. 13, 2012, and Jan. 15, 2013, respectively. The trio is shacked up with longtime producer Rob Cavallo in its hometown of Oakland, Calif.
