I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could. I'm originally from Battle Creek, Michigan (home of Tony the Tiger). I've got two kids who take up most of my time out of the office, but when I get "me time", I'm either taking in some live music or a sporting event. Since relocating, I also fell in love with the Texas music scene. I've been lucky enough to be nominated for DJ of the Year 4 straight years by the Academy of Texas Music, and was the 2009 recipient of the Academy's Palmwood Award. I'm a huge sports fan, and my loyalties are with the Michigan Wolverines, Chicago White Sox and (sorry) the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dave Turns April 15th From “Tax Day” To “National Procrastinator’s Day”
As Americans, April 15th has been embedded in our minds as the dreaded "Tax Day", where everybody who owes the I.R.S. had better pay up, or else! I want to change the way we view this day, so instead of going through the motions of being forced to pay my hard-earned money to Uncle Sam, I am going to celebrate "Procrastinator's Day"!
Dave Chooses to Look at Paying Taxes as a Good Thing
For several years now, I've found reasons to use a motto loosely borrowed from comedian Bill Hicks. The basic intention of this brief saying helps me find a fresh perspective on life's situations that may seem negative at first glance. The motto? "It's all in how you look at it.". Tax season reminds me of this saying.
Dave Finds Out More About the Little Boy Who Surprised a Guitar Shop Owner With His Incredible Voice
There's a video circulating on the web of a little boy with a huge voice, belting out a soulful blues tune in a music store to the amazement of the owner. I watched this video and was just about as surprised as the guy behind the counter appears to be.
Whataburger’s New Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuit Gets a Taste Test From Dave, Shay and Chaz
I know a lot of people who flip out every time McDonald's brings back the McRib. I've got friends who can't get through a week without a trip to Sonic for their addictive tots. For me, I'm always searching for something different. And that's what I hoped to find when I heard about a brand new breakfast sandwich at Whataburger.
Autism Awareness Card Gives an Eye-Opening Experience
I was shopping with my son at the Mall of Abilene a while back. Near the main entrance, we saw a small, maybe 5 year old boy, having what appeared to be an epic meltdown. With a mom holding the boy by the hand, the child screaming and trying his best to wiggle away to freedom. We’ve all witnessed this situation, right?

Dave Meets John – Abilene Subway Employee and Classical Guitarist
I was out with my son, enjoying a sandwich at Subway at the end of their Saturday lunch rush. As we were polishing off our $5 footlong and getting ready to hit the road, I couldn't help but notice a small orange amp at one of the tables behind me. So, we stuck around to find out what the heck was going on.
Easy April Fools Day Pranks
I have been the recipient of April Fool's Day pranks more than I've given. This year, I'm going to be ready. I've decided to put together a list of quick, easy, but good pranks. Some are ideal for work, others for home, and some are good to use on anyone - even complete strangers...
Dave Puts Shay’s iPhone Speaker Made From a Toilet Paper Roll to a Product Challenge
I saw Shay's video about how to make an iPhone speaker out of a roll of toilet paper, and how you can amplify your music with a couple of scores from an X-ACTO knife. I'm a conspiracy theorist by nature, so I decided to put Shay's toilet paper speaker to the test.
Budweiser and Ozzie Smith Push For MLB Opening Day Holiday Petition Signatures
Few things give me chill bumps like the thought of Major League Baseball's Opening Day. As a lifelong, die-hard White Sox fan, I find myself aching for that first pitch that matters every season. If you share the same affinity for baseball, Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith has a petition for you to sign.

Dave Makes Chicken Parmesan – Shay’s Recipe of the Week
Shay Hill shares one of her favorite recipes with us each week. Each week, I read Shay's recipe, look at the nice photos and think to myself, "I'll make that recipe one of these days.". Well, that day has come.
With the help of my own personal sous chef - my 14-year old son, Nathan - we gathered the necessary ingredients and equipment for chicken parmesan (minus the meat mallet, we subst
