Dave Wheaton

I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could. I'm originally from Battle Creek, Michigan (home of Tony the Tiger). I've got two kids who take up most of my time out of the office, but when I get "me time", I'm either taking in some live music or a sporting event. Since relocating, I also fell in love with the Texas music scene. I've been lucky enough to be nominated for DJ of the Year 4 straight years by the Academy of Texas Music, and was the 2009 recipient of the Academy's Palmwood Award. I'm a huge sports fan, and my loyalties are with the Michigan Wolverines, Chicago White Sox and (sorry) the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Vans and Chuck Taylor All Stars: Two Shoes That Will Always Spark Conversation

I don’t usually pay close attention to what other guys are wearing, but the other day I couldn't help but notice the footwear on my coworker, Chaz. He happened to be sporting a pair of checkered Vans. You may remember it as the shoe that Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) used to thump himself in the head in the 1982 classic film “Fast Times At Ridgemont High”. Now, 30 years later, Chaz is sporting them on Casual Friday at the office.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Biographer Talks About ‘Turn It Up!’, Recovering From Plane Crash + More in Exclusive Interview [AUDIO]

Ron Eckerman spent two years as the tour manager for one of the biggest bands in rock and roll history, Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was there when the band began its ascent to the top of the music world, and he was in the airplane with the band when it crashed, ending the band as we knew it. Eckerman released a book, 'Turn It Up!: Love, Life and Death, Southern Style', recalling his accounts of those two years, as well as the tragic day in October 1977. Recently, Ron took the time to talk with me about the book, the band and a special offer to U.S. servicemen and women.

Hurricane Sandy Gives Us All the Chance to Rally…Again

As Hurricane Sandy hammers the eastern seaboard of the United States, I look out my window and see a beautiful, sunny autumn day. It would be easy to turn off the television, avoid the news websites and enjoy my sunny day. But the fact is, most everyone either has a relative or knows someone affected by Sandy. If it's not you directly, you probably have a neighbor or coworker who's got the safety of a loved one in the front of their mind.

Halloween Candy Drive for Dyess Troops Overseas Gives Kids Something to Do With Their Extra Loot

In theory, Halloween produces future customers for dentists. Other than that, the candy-coated holiday and dentist offices don't generally have a whole lot in common. But the "Candy For Those Over Land-y" candy drive offers the opportunity to change that, and show support for our troops, at the same time
