Smashing Pumpkins Plot Fall US Tour in Advance of New Studio Album
With new music to preview and two relatively new members in the band, the Smashing Pumpkins are scheduled to begin a 12-date U.S. tour in Los Angeles on Oct. 5.
The dozen concert dates are being described as a warmup to a big year of touring in 2012, which is when the Pumpkins will release their in-progress studio album, ‘Oceania.’

Linkin Park often encourages its audience to make charitable contributions, acknowledges singer Chester Bennington.
So when they put out the call to raise money for tsunami relief in Japan, Bennington and his band mates decided to give their fans some extra incentive. And it’s a good one for both sides. Raise $500 by Aug. 24 for the band’s Music for Relief charity, and you and a guest can attend Linkin Park’s “secret” show in Los Angeles on Aug. 31.

Mick Jagger Thinks Rolling Stones Fans Will ‘Relate’ to His New Band, SuperHeavy
Mick Jagger says there is a wide mix of music on the upcoming debut by SuperHeavy, his new supergroup with singer/guitarist Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame, plus singers Joss Stone and Damian Marley and composer AR Rahman.
“It’s very approachable,” Jagger says. “If you’re a Rolling Stones fan, there’s definitely stuff you can relate to.”
The reggae-flavored ‘Miracle Worker’ is the first single, and it is among the 12 regular songs on the album, which will also include four bonus tracks.

Motley Crue Tribute Includes Jack Daniel’s Bottles to Raise Money for Charity
Through the years, Motley Crue has spent a lot of time rocking Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, Calif., with the legendary Whisky A Go-Go club among its many haunts.
So if any band deserves to be honored at the 2011 Sunset Strip Music Festival, it’s the Crue. The tribute, set for Aug. 18, is going to involve real whiskey: special-edition bottles of Jack Daniel’s, with proceeds going to a charity that’s very dear to one Crue member.
