12 years after losing her fingers as a result of sepsis brought on by chicken pox, 15-year-old Chloe Holmes has become the youngest person in Europe (and the first outside of America) to be fitted with bionic fingers.
Anyone who’s seen ‘March of The Penguins’ knows how lonely being a penguin can be. The frigid winters. The vast and icy emptiness of the Arctic.
Still, you wouldn’t necessarily think any of that trademark penguin loneliness carried over to life at the zoo. Not so. Just look at this video taken at Fota Wildlife Park in Cork, Ireland. While all the other penguins scurry off to greet the approaching food truck, one lone penguin stands alone, gripped by an overwhelming feeling of social isolation. Either that or he just wasn’t hungry.
Is that a hedgehog on the floor or are you just happy to see us? This dog is so excited and/or anxious about the prickly brown pile on the floor that he’s decided to skip today’s walk and just run in place.
In reality, we think he’s probably trying to dig a hole so he can expose the hedgehog’s soft, defenseless underside but that’s not nearly as cute to think about. Thank goodness for laminate flooring.
The tortoise may be able to outrun the hare but he’s no match for the motorized wheelchair. Cruiser, a wily desert tortoise, is a fierce competitor, but an elderly, wheelchair-bound gentleman named Josef wins by a nose.
TRON Guy Jay Maynard is back and this time he’s got a little bit of corporate and creative muscle behind him. Created by San Francisco based agency Ryactive for Duck Brand duct tape, ‘Duck TRON’ is a colorful, duct tape send-up of the sci-fi flick’s famous racing sequences. And who’s the ‘user’ behind the races? Maynard, of course.
The video, which went live less than a week ago, has already racked up more than 300,000 views on Vimeo.
Firefighting isn’t just a job — it’s also a sport. Firematic Racing involves firefighters competing against the clock to complete tasks like assembling and climbing a ladder or fitting and shooting a hose. Though the sport is most popular in New York, its reach extends across the pond to Europe, too.
YouTuber Honsco‘s first supercut of movie characters saying the name of the movie they’re appearing in (like when Christopher Lloyd actually says “back to the future” in, of course, ‘Back to the Future’) garnered more than a half-million views and now he’s back with a sequel. Posted this morning, ‘Movie Titles in Movies: Part Deux’ features 110 Titles in 159 Seconds, from Craig Robinson saying “hot tub time machine” in ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ to Natalie Portman saying “black swan” in ‘Black Swan.’
Burger democratists, rejoice: As of this weekend, the creepy Burger King mascot, “the King,” is officially dead.
Concurrent with the release of the guacamole topped California Whopper, Burger King’s new advertising agency of record McGarryBowen has dethroned the edgy monarch in favor of an approach based on health and freshness.
Created by British SCUBA instructors in 1954 as a training exercise for swimming with fins, underwater hockey (also called “Octopush”) is an aquatic team sport that resembles knock hockey, only on a much larger, much wetter scale. Though the paddle and puck are similar to those used in the table game, underwater hockey is a far more physical game.
