Tickets for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be available on February 29 (that’s tomorrow, FYI), with the movie hitting theaters about a month later, on March 25. Disney is banking on similarly huge business for Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, as the studio has officially launched ticket pre-sales as of today, even though the film doesn’t hit theaters for another two months. If that isn’t enough to get your attention, then maybe this new TV spot will.
Shane Black’s Predator sequel was first announced a couple of years ago, though with Black completing The Nice Guys and working on a western pilot for Amazon, Fox had yet to make any promises about a release date — much less when Black and collaborator Fred Dekker would begin filming. But with the studio setting several new release dates over the weekend, it seems that the duo are finally gearing up to head into production on The Predator.
Following in the footsteps of previous unlimited passes for films like Spectre and Interstellar, Regal is offering a fans a chance to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as many times as they want (or until their brains melt and there’s nothing left but the hollow shell of a person). There is a catch, of course: There’s a limited number of these special passes, which will allow you to see Zack Snyder’s superhero epic as frequently as you’d like during the film’s entire theatrical run.
Before it even had a chance to break records at the box office and become the highest-grossing X-Men film, Deadpool was already given the go-ahead for a sequel and fans began considering the possibilities for this new corner of the X-Men universe — will Deadpool appear in X-Force? Will he cross over with his mutant brethren in other films? Not so fast, according to the writers behind the Merc With a Mouth’s solo debut. They’ve got some big plans, but they’re not getting ahead of themselves.
We still have a few months before the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuts (reportedly with Captain America: Civil War), and all we’ve seen thus far is one official cast photo, the title treatment and a few costume photos. And while this isn’t anything too substantial, we may now know what the logo looks like for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars heist spinoff.
Much has been made of the diversity in the new era of Star Wars, with J.J. Abrams smartly casting the franchise’s first black and female leading characters in John Boyega’s Finn and Daisy Ridley’s Rey. They weren’t the only diverse part of The Force Awakens, which boasted a noticeably varied assortment of genders and ethnicities in its supporting and extras casting, but many fans are still wondering when — or if — we might see an openly gay character in the newly inclusive franchise. According to J.J. Abrams, it will happen, and soon.
There have been rumors since last fall that one particularly slimy character from the original Ghostbusters film would be returning for Paul Feig’s new film, seemingly confirmed by an IMDb credit. But then Feig went and did what J.J. Abrams tried to do with that whole Khan / Star Trek Into Darkness thing — he flat-out denied it, even though this was a pretty viable rumor about a character we all sort of expected would appear. Guess what? The rumor was true, and Ghostbusters star Michael K. Williams has confirmed it himself.
If you’re particularly invested in the stories of Batman and Superman pre-Dawn of Justice, then Warner Bros. is about to test your devotion by offering a new Batman v Superman prequel comic — but only if you buy a bag of Doritos at Wal-Mart and surrender your fingers to bright orange cheese dust. If that seems okay to you, then you’ll be rewarded with a digital prequel story that helps set the stage for Zack Snyder’s upcoming film.
According to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, Thor: Ragnarok won’t be spending much time on Earth, unlike the two previous outings with the mighty thunder god. Instead, the new sequel from What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi will focus more on some of those oft-mentioned and previously unexplored other realms, which should provide plenty of possibilities for Thor’s little space-road trip with the Hulk. But with Earth mostly left behind, it’s been unclear which human characters will appear, and while we’re thinking mostly of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, we now know at least one human who won’t be making the trek to Ragnarok.
Not long ago we learned that Disney and Marvel had plans for a C-3PO prequel comic that would explain how the endearing droid got that red arm in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Episode VIII doesn’t arrive until 2017, so if you can’t wait that long to find out why C-3PO has a weird new appendage, Star Wars Special: C-3PO #1 has your answer. And although this first look at the upcoming comic doesn’t really shed any light on the matter, it does give you a nice sneak peek.
Guillermo del Toro and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a creative match made in horror heaven. The pairing is so perfect, in fact, that it’s hardly disappointing that the director isn’t returning to helm Pacific Rim 2. And just when you thought del Toro’s Scary Stories adaptation couldn’t get any more exciting, here come the writers of The LEGO Movie to make this one of your most anticipated films of…well, ever.
After weeks of sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the set, Vin Diesel finally has a release date for his return to the xXx franchise. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will arrive in theaters in 2017 — between that and Fast 8 (and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!), we’ll have plenty of extreme Vin Diesel adrenaline junkie action to keep us busy next year.
