With summer’s end approaching, August Burns Red are already thinking about winter with their new song ‘Flurries’ off their upcoming disc ‘August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album.’

In a press release, guitarist JB Brubaker talks about the instrumental track by stating, “’Flurries’ is one of two original songs I wrote for the record. It’s the first track on Sleddin’ Hill and it’s a dynamic song that begins with a big build-up before kicking into gear. We were able to play with all sorts of layers in this song including strings, lots of different bells and booming war drums. I definitely think the song sets the tone for what is to come on the rest of the record.”

The holiday record is complete with original songs along with some classics such as ‘Jingle Bells,’ ‘Winter Wonderland,’ ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ long with remixed and remastered versions of the band’s previous holiday singles, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Little Drummer Boy.” An updated version of their rendition of “Carol of the Bells” will also be on the album.

“Because this was such a different type of album, I was able to get a little more wild with my influences” adds Brubaker. “There’s a section inspired by one of my favorite bands, Beirut. There’s also guitar solo that is an ode to Blue Album-era Weezer, and my punk roots are evident all over the album.”

‘Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album’ is due out Oct. 9 via Solid State Records.

As an early present for many August Burn Red fans, the band is currently out on the road for a five week, 30 city North American Trek with Of Mice & Men, the Color Morale and the Overseer. Go here for a full list of dates.
