Assassin’s Creed 4’s Freedom Cry DLC to Exist as Stand-Alone Title

Fighting for freedom can be a lot more rewarding than playing pirate. Adewale's latest Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag spin-off is going to exist as a stand-alone title.

Ubisoft has recently announced that Black Flag's story-based piece of downloadable content, Freedom Cry, will be available to download without requiring a copy of Black Flag in order to play.

Freedom Cry continues the story of Black Flag with you playing as Adewale, Edward Kenway's first mate, as he tries to liberate the slaves of the Caribbean and to seek retribution for the atrocities that slavers have caused throughout the area. Freedom Cry becoming a stand-alone download is excellent news, considering how well-received and emotionally engaging it was.

Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry will be available as a stand-alone download on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 starting Feb. 19 and on PC Feb. 25.
