‘Arrow’ Preview: Get Your First Look At The Huntress!
Apart from an enthralling premise and tightly crafted action sequences, one of our favorite aspects of The CW’s Green Arrow adaptation ‘Arrow‘ lies in seeing the multitude of DC characters adapted for the small screen. In particular, an upcoming episode will see the introduction of our first fellow DC hero (ish), Jessica De Gouw’s The Huntress! Set to appear in two upcoming episodes, how would you like to see the first look at the character in action?
The CW’s ‘Arrow’ has already introduced a number of DC villains in only four episodes, with another big bad set for next week’s “Damaged,” but what about a fellow vigilante? Enter Helena Bertinelli (Jessica De Gouw), ‘Arrow’s incarnation of “The Huntress” due to arrive on November 28! Entertainment Weekly managed to snag the first look at the character, who eschews her skimpy caped comic costume in favor of something a bit more functional, but nonetheless keeps her iconic mini-crossbow.
So how will Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) react to having another vigilante in Starling City, one whose quest for vengeance somewhat mirrors his own? Producer Andrew Kriesberg spoke about what the classic DC character lends to Oliver’s crusade, saying:
What we really liked was that on an emotional level, she and Oliver are both damaged by their pasts. As we say on the show, theyâve both gone through a crucible and come out the other side. This is the way theyâre coping, but somehow, Oliver has taken the darkness inside with him and is doing something positive with it. Sheâs taken the darkness inside her and is seeking revenge and doesnât care who gets hurt in the process.
All of these interesting philosophical discussions: What is vengeance? What is justice? Where do you draw the line and how far is too far? And then the fact that sheâs hot and Oliver is into her makes it all the more complicated.
De Gouw will appear as The Huntress beginning November 28 across a span of two episodes, with the potential to return. Check out the first image of the character in costume below, and tell us what you think in the comments!
