Fans can expect songs from Anthrax and Killswitch Engage to be included on the upcoming 'Game of Thrones' 'Catch the Throne' mixtape, and more info is coming out about both bands' contributions. Anthrax actually pulled a demo they had tracked for their follow-up to ‘Worship Music,’ adding lyrics tailored to the show, while Killswitch Engage wrote a entirely new song for the compilation.

Anthrax’s Scott Ian told Kaaosz how the band's song ended up on the effort, “We didn’t have time to start writing something from scratch. We listened to the material we had, and we all thought the same thing – this one demo just sounded like it should be the song for 'Game of Thrones.' It was a pretty easy decision.”

Ian, who is a fan of 'Game of Thrones,' went on to say he was happy with the subject of Anthrax's song contribution. “The lyrics weren’t written yet, so [the show producers] said, ‘You have to pick something about the show to write about.’ I’m not going to give it away now, but I got to write exactly what I wanted, so I was very happy about that,” Ian says.

On the other hand, Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach only started watching the HBO show after creating his band's contribution to the mix. He told Australian’s rock radio station Triple M, “When we got asked to do it, I started doing my research and watching some of the stuff. And while I was writing the song, I didn't really know what I was talking about. But [the show producers] give you a concept, they give you key words that you should use and sort of give you a storyline. And it was fun for me to work in that capacity…like, once we were done with the song, and it was all said and done, I watch[ed] the entire four seasons in, like, a week. [Laughs] I became completely addicted and enthralled in it."

The 'Game of Thrones' mixtape is expected to be released in April, so keep those ears open for some epic music.
