It has been more than six years since Alien Ant Farm released ‘Up in the Attic,’ and now the band is in the studio to record a new album that should be available in early 2013. Alien Ant Farm has entered Groovemaster Studios in Chicago to begin the process. They will be working with Johnny K (Disturbed, Staind) and other producers.

“The band is extremely fired up about going into this record,” says singer Dryden Mitchell. “We’ve had the fortune in the past to work with some of the best in the business (Jay Baumgardner, the DeLeo brothers, Jim Wirt, James Murray) in some of the greatest studios (NRG, Conway, Glitter Dungeon). Johnny K is no exception to the batting average, and his studio in Chicago rivals all the greats. We all plan on a ‘newer’ sound for the band, at the same time keeping other pop-rock bands in check. This ain’t your soccer mom’s band, but she can come backstage for an hour or two.”

It’s the first time since 2003 that Alien Ant Farm’s original lineup will record together. Guitarist Terry Corso and bassist Tye Zamora rejoined the group in 2008, and join Mitchell and drummer Mike Cosgrove.

Alien Ant Farm’s biggest album was 2001‘s ‘ANTthology,’ which went double platinum and spawned the No. 1 single ‘Smooth Criminal.’ That song, a Michael Jackson cover, was recently named one of Loudwire’s Top 21st Century Hard Rock Songs.
