Abilene Reporter News Now Charging Subscription Fees for Online Access
So, I was surfing the web this morning when I landed on the Abilene Reporter News website. I saw a story that I wanted to comment on, and was surprised to find out I couldn't because I was not a paid subscriber. Apparently, ARN is now charging for their digital service.
As of this morning, you can longer just click on a story and read it. Even though there are a handful of stories that you can get the whole scoop of, you have to pay to read most of the stories. Not only will you have to pay for a subscription on ARN's website, but that goes for smart phone apps and tablet apps as well.
ARN's publisher, Dave Hedge, posted details of the change on their website:
You may have noticed some changes on our website and mobile apps. We are offering new subscription options so you can receive the most complete access to news – when and where you want it.
According to ARN, you can receive home delivery service, unlimited access to reporternews.com on the web, smartphone and tablet for $10.99 a month. While just getting the digital subscription will cost $9.99 a month.
Meanwhile, other local news outlets, including our websites here at Townsquare Media (KEYJ, KEAN, KMWX, KULL, KYYW, KSLI), plus, KTXS and Big Country Home Page continue to be free of charge.
