I'll admit it now, there was not a dry eye in the room. When I first found out about what was going down with our local Market Street Supermarket, I thought "great, we're going to make someone very happy today."

Abilene's United Supermarkets had asked their Facebook followers to submit stories of people that are deserving of a surprise flower delivery.

Here is what Paul Harvey would call "the rest of the story." Lex Smith submitted the following:

Recipient: Stephanie Rodgers Meyers has experienced unimaginable heartbreaking loss. She's walked through losing two of her children. Her daughter died to childhood cancer and her son passed due to an un-diagnosed heart defect. She has taken her heartbreak and turned it into an opportunity to bring attention to childhood cancer and be a light for others walking through tragedy. She is open and honest about her feelings and while just roses will never do her justice, she absolutely deserves every good thing this broken world has to offer. I only know her through mutual friends but her impact has certainly shaped me as a person and I know many others who would say the same.

Myself, other radio station personnel, Market Street and Beltway Church representatives surprised Stephanie as she was finishing up her exercise class at the Church.

After presenting her with roses from Market Street, a United gift card and the reading of Lex's letter, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. These kinds of stories truly restore your faith in humanity.

Congratulations Stephanie on inspiring the rest of us with your amazing journey of strength and perseverance.
