Abilene ISD Approves Middle School Standardized Dress Code – What Are Your Thoughts?
Well, it appears Abilene ISD has approved of moving forward with a standardized dress code at the middle school level, beginning in the 2014-15 school year.
The vote was unanimous, but the public opinion is far from unanimous.
According to KTXS, the new dress code will basically be:
- Students get to wear one of (the approved) solid colors of polo, sweater, sweatshirt, or hoodie on top. The colors are red, white, black, navy blue, royal blue and grey.
- Students can wear pants, shorts or skirts and they can be navy blue, black or khaki.
- There are also regulations on belts (black or brown only), shoes (no flip flops or shower shoes), and the fit of clothing as well.
Many feel this is a more moderate approach to a dress code, as compared to others, but it's still a dress code. We want to know your thoughts.
