6 Things That I Thought Would Be More Of A Problem Than They Are
I think by now people have seen the meme saying, "I thought quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it is".
Some of these are personality driven and some are based on things we've dealt with every day. Some people, especially kids, have no idea of what the odds of something happening to them are, and in fact, most people will lead really boring lives where nothing happens to them.
Do you remember to poke a few holes in your potato before you bake or microwave it? Well, if you don't, it's going to explode. Uh, I have never had a potato explode. I'm sure it's possible and it may have even happened to you, but let's just say almost all potatoes cook just fine without exploding.
It's a real concern for some boys, and it's ridiculous. The world doesn't require guys to have the skills they once needed. If you don't want to learn how to clean a fish, then don't. If you don't want to play sports, then don't. None of that stuff matters, zero, none of it. Who cares if you're manly, feminine, gay or straight. In the end all that matters is that you're happy with who you are.
I heard a story of a snake coming up out of the toilet when I was a kid and it terrified me. Roughly 40 years later I heard of another incident in which a snake came up out of a toilet. In neither case was anybody hurt, so the odds of you having a snake clamp down on your naughty bits are low.
Yeah, serial killers are a thing, When I was a kid my mom read all kind of serial killer books. In addition the zodiac killer was on the news and on the loose. I just KNEW he was going to come in through a window and murder me slowly. The fact is you have a .00039% chance of being the victim of a serial killer.
Everybody say, "awwwwwww!" When you're a teen, especially coming from a broken home, you get a real sense that you're alone in this world and that no one cares about you and no one is ever going to love you. If you still think those things, you are wrong. The problem is, when you and the people around you are younger its more awkward to show each other how much you care, but trust me, the love is there and it will build over your lifetime.
This one kind of inspired the list. I think a lot of people have heard that you shouldn't shower during a lightning storm. As a kid, I was seriously afraid that I'd be killed in the shower and everyone would come in and find me dead with soap still on my winkie. Experts says 10-20 people a year are shocked while bathing/showering, but the same place I got this information says nothing about how many are killed.
